Every first Friday of the month, storytime hits the Australian National Botanic Gardens for pre-schoolers and their minders. Expect tales, tunes, rhymes and crafty bits all themed around our quirky native plants and animals, unfolding amid the greenery that somehow survives Canberra's charms.

Pack a picnic rug and stroll from the carpark to Crosbie Morrison Lawn, tailing the signs like a good little duckling. If the skies open up or winter decides to linger rudely, they shuffle it indoors, so eyeball those directional signs on arrival to avoid wandering like lost tourists.
