About Something Strange

‘Something Strange’ is the debut children’s book about facing fears from Aiden Novinc, a local Canberran. Created and designed for primary school students aged 4-9, this beautifully illustrated rhyming story follows a brave young child as he faces the spooky monsters around his house to find out they were living only in his imagination.

Aiden’s motivation for writing ‘Something Strange’ was drawn from a universal human experience: that the world seems so much scarier when you’re a kid. Aiden wanted to write a book that helped kids to understand that it’s normal to be scared, that they aren’t alone in feeling that way, and to help them to realise that what they’re scared of might just be in their imaginations.

Perfect as a gift for the young person in your life, Aiden has created a ‘Launch Edition’ (limited to 500 copies) and is looking to book in even more author readings at local Canberra Primary Schools (get in touch if you’d like him to come to your child’s school in 2026!).
