2018 Enrolments for Blue Gum Community School's Nature Play Group are now open!

Nestled in the beautiful gardens of Blue Gum Community School in Hackett, Blue Gum Nature Play Group can offer your child plenty of new learning and social development opportunities.

With a programme developed by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, the 2 hour sessions are for 0-3 year olds and their families to explore Blue Gum's unique educational philosophy in a play-based environment.

Children and their parent/carer explore together as they investigate the natural world and research a wide variety of materials (e.g. leaves, clay, rocks, pegs, paints, sticks, felt, fabrics, buckets) to discover their properties and possibilities, and to experience community through shared food, stories and songs.

Come along and be an active explorer alongside your child, spending quality time together in the company of like-minded families.

Tuesday and Thursday Nature Play Group sessions give your little one the freedom to take on physical challenges in the sandpit, water course and the sandstone gully and to explore the materials and experiences on offer in the studio classroom.

Wednesday Play Group on the Mountain sessions are based on Mount Majura and are an invitation for nature lovers who are keen to share their enthusiasm with other families. These sessions are also for those who feel more hesitant to exploring the outdoors to learn about the bush alongside their child, in this supportive environment.

Unlike most Play Groups, Blue Gum Nature Play Group is designed as a year-long enrolment in which the family becomes immersed within the school community. This continuity across the year's four terms with an ongoing group of families, fosters the development of relationships and meaningful learning.

Play Group families are also given priority when applying to enrol at the two Blue Gum Preschools when their child turns 3 years old.

What if your child was diagnosed with a vision problem? Myopia, sometimes known as short-sightedness or near-sightedness, is a common condition that causes blurred distance vision.
