Slip on a virtual reality headset and dive into the Great Barrier Reef without getting salt in your shoes. The reef is the biggest coral structure on the planet and a surprisingly busy neighbourhood for marine life, from flamboyant fish to coral gardens that put even the fanciest houseplants to shame. The VR takes you close enough to see the details and far enough to appreciate the scale.
It also covers the not-so-fun bits, like the pressures the reef is facing and why it matters. You will hear about the government's efforts and the science-driven innovations being used to monitor and protect the reef, the sort of research that sounds technical until someone explains it with a metaphor involving drones and data rather than jargon.
